Focus and Scope

The Journal provides a forum for exploring, sharing and discussing practice from a variety of global perspectives. Radical practice can mean a variety of things and we want to explore as diverse range of ideas, approaches, methods and experiences as possible. The uniting theme in all these examples is that the subject under discussion is committed to and/or tells us something about the possibility of social change, leads to the empowerment of individuals, develops critical awareness of the modern world, or enables a shift in the balance of power to the disadvantaged.

Peer Review Process

Send us one of the following that fits the criteria above:

a)An analysis of community work practice

b)A discussion of ideas or theory

c)A review of a book, event or exhibition

A and b should be between 4000 and 6000 words in length and fully referenced. C should be around 1000 words in length.

Normally, when we receive a submission it will be shared with peer-reviewrs who are linked with the Radical Community Work website. All reviews of books etc will reviewed by the editors and published, normally within a period of two months. All a and b submissions will be subject to open review for 2 months. At the end of that period, subject to the reviews, we will do one of the following:

•Fully publish the submission by moving it to the main section of the website

•Send you feedback from the comments with a list of improvements we would like you to make to your submission. On completion we will fully publish your submission.

•Send you feedback from the comments and in rare cases decline to fully publish your submission.

Publication Frequency

Normally articles will be published as soon as the review process is complete. However we will also produce occasional special editions.
